The country
that my group presented was on Japan. Japanese’s believe that actions speak
louder than words. They tend to use fewer words when speaking but more action
this is because they are more nonverbal communicators than verbal. The Japanese believe in harmony in so doing
they rely on tone of voice, facial expression and posture to interpret ones
feelings. They believe when speaking
only positive words should be spoken on the flip side if they don’t not like or
don’t agree they won’t embarrass a person instead they uses the term “it will
be difficult.” Majority of the times Japanese will indicate with a nod that
they are listening the never agree or disagree. To communicate with a Japanese
one will need to be a good observer of body language. Eye contact is considered
disrespectful especially to elderly however looking at someone neck or tie is
preferred. The Turkish or Monogolian is the language that is spoken and in so
doing Japanese do speak very slowly when conveying a message.
The
Japan culture for me was slightly strange in that how they can encode and
decode messages by observation. However, I did learn that sometimes is good to
not speak and listen to what is being channel, observe facial expression and
body movements it just might help you to believe or understand what is being
said. I have taken the Japanese style of observing one’s movement while
interacting especially in arguments to sit and observed while formulating how
best I can respond with fewer words and send a message that will be understood.
